Forging Ahead

Day 24- enjoying the mountains. When we woke up today it was 44 degrees. After an all night rain and wind, the rain had stopped and we felt it was going to end up sunny. Joe wanted to drive around to see the sights. It was beautiful. We noticed that the mountains looked like they had snow on them.  They did. We tried to get some decent photos, but an IPhone  doesn’t even begin to show the depth and beauty. Todd had offered his camera for the trip but Joe said no. He’s sorry now. He is dissatisfied with how his IPhone takes pictures. We drove to a ski resort and it was beautiful. The runs were not snow covered, just the peaks. We were at about 6,000 ft. while driving, and the snow covered peaks were higher than that. We figured that they were between 8-10,000 ft. The mountain range is the Wastach Mountains. (Spelling eludes me) They are considered part of the central Rocky Mountains. I can certainly understand why folks want to stay out west. It feels so expansive. One mo...

Day 23- Echo Canyon State Park, Morgan, Utah Well, we didn’t have to travel far from Coalville, only about 20 minutes. This is a beautiful spot. In the mountains by a lake. We took care of some chores today. We did laundry, ate lunch, took a nap and watched and listened to the rain. We haven’t had rain since our first night in Arkansas. Here, it’s neat to see the clouds and rain coming over the mountains. Wind is blowing so it’s right chilly. We have no internet and very weak cell service so I’m writing this to post tomorrow. Hopefully it will not be raining so I can post pictures of this campsite and the campground. Done a lot of reading and napping today. So peaceful. I do miss my family and friends but am thankful to have this opportunity. Hopefully it will be sunny tomorrow so I can sit on the beach. I heard the water temp is in the 50’s so since I don’t have a wet suit, don’t think I’ll get in. Have a good night. God bless. Pictures around our campsite. ...

Day 22 Trust me, this will be short and sweet. After the 12 hr trip here, today was a day of rest for us. Joe had another project with the camper to fix, which he did much to his delight. I must admit, the influence shows of his mother comes in whenever he is presented with a problem. He will not rest until it’s solved. Proud of him that way. I too quickly want to give up. Anyway, slept in, had devotions, ate lunch, took a nap, then went shopping in Park City, a darling ski resort. Came back, sat outside and read, took a short walk around the campground with Joe and Moe.  Joe fixed dinner and now I’m ready for bed. Tomorrow we’ll be going only a half hour away to spend 2 days at East Canyon State Park. Below are my favorite pics of the campsite.

Day 21 Today was a long, long day. What was supposed to be a 6 1/2 hr. day turned into a 12 hr. day. Lots of stops. Anyway, it was a beautiful, but long drive. Check FB to see what we saw on the road. We need prayers though....when we arrived at the campground and was all set up, the air conditioning, microwave, and a few outlets weren’t working. Joe has looked in manuals, checked breakers, and everything looks ok. The lights all work. Only air conditioning and microwave don’t work. Thank goodness it’s very much cooler so we have the windows open. Oh, forgot to say that the sewer line is messed up. So needless to say, pray for wisdom for Joe or wisdom to find someone to help. So depending on this situation, we have no outlets working to charge our devices so we won’t have our phones. What a birthday for Joe. He says by the time this journey is over he’ll be an expert. On a positive note, our little campground is beautiful. I’ll take pictures tomorrow. Night all.

Day 20 Today we arrived in Vegas. It was 110 outside. Very hot!!! When we first pulled into our campsite our air conditioner wasn’t working. We started to panic. Joe prayed that it was a breaker and thank goodness it was. Today was spent visiting with our dear friends Debbie and Jay Sauter. We caught up and reminisced. Boy do we have some great memories and it was so good to see them. We talked and talked then went out to eat. We are leaving tomorrow and hopefully I’ll be able to find some gifts. We’ll be on our way to Coalville, Utah. Hope it will be cooler. Some pictures below of our campsite and friends.

Day 19 Well, day 2 at the Grand Canyon began with a bang. I woke up dizzy again and really couldn’t do much of anything so I drank a bunch of water, ate some cereal, and laid back down. I felt better after resting again . So we got ready and the 3 of us got in the truck and went back to the Grand Canyon. This time we were going on the desert view which is on the East Rim. The views were staggering. This was a driving tour so there were pull outs at various spots. The first time we stopped we decided to let Moe go too. Well that was a mistake. He was way too excited with all the sights and smells. He was pulling Joe so badly that we had to put him back in the truck. We made it work by each of us taking a turn to take pictures while the other stayed with Moe. It was beautiful, but what made our day was we finally got to see a critter when driving back to the entrance. It was a beautiful elk.
